Kirsty Harris

In her final year of studying a BA in Dance Studies at Middlesex University, Kirsty has also engaged with various other projects as a dancer, organiser or choreographer. Kirsty recently worked with SVDC and choreographer Dominique Rivoal on a short dance on screen piece for the Royal Tall Ships Festival in Falmouth in August 2014, which was artistically projected onto the side of a building.  She has performed at East London Dance’s platform, Blue Print 2014, with Svelare Dance Company founded by Kiel Clarke-Davies. In June she danced with avoiDance company where a new creative dance work was produced called Into The Deep for the international Sifdans Festival. Kirsty was a key role in Louise Kelsey’s research project with Dr Lise Uytterhoveon about Scratch Nights and Hashtag Chats: Creative tools to enhance choreography in the dance curriculum. During the conference where they presented their work in July, Kirsty spoke to give a dance student perspective.

During June and July she undertook a group leader role in the national Big Commonwealth Dance where she organised an independent group of dancers to perform with other dancers from around the country in Trafalgar Square. She has also had the opportunity to work for Divine Company at the Westfield Christmas Parade in early November and will perform on numerous occasions for them in December on stilt apparatus. A keen interest in choreography has led to a collaboration project with a final year student at Wimbledon College of Arts. She is also currently employed as a dance student ambassador, representing Middlesex University at many events and at the beginning of the year gained a qualification in a CYQ Level 2 Exercise to Music course.
